This post is about bed frames for college students.
Having your first apartment in college is so exciting! But it also comes with the need to furnish it. So, let’s talk about the best bed frames for college students.
When I moved into my first off-campus apartment, I had an insanely SMALL ROOM and I had no idea what kind of bed frame to buy. I was really on a budget so it was hard to find something comfortable that actually fit my needs.
I ended up getting a futon that I could convert into a couch for when I had friends over and we wanted to do a study session at my place. But let me tell you, it was hard to make that futon look cute!
So, I thought it might help YOU if I could find some of the best bed frames for college students out there that are both practical and beautiful. I tried to find bed frames with easy assembly and good price points so you can pick your favorite and get a good night’s sleep, every night.
In this post I’ve included a range of bed sizes from twin to queen, so whether you have a small room or a little more space, hopefully you’ll be able to find the perfect option here!

How to make a college bed comfy?
Making a college bed super comfy can definitely be a challenge, especially if you’re sleeping on a twin or Twin XL size. But there are a few easy ways to make any bed more comfortable, and that goes for your first apartment bed or a college dorm room bed!
I actually have an entire post that walks you through a complete college bedding guide, but if you’re looking for the quick answer, I recommend getting one of these memory foam mattress toppers and pairing it with this Bedsure cotton mattress pad (I’ve had one of these exact mattress pads since my college futon and I repurchased it for my queen bed a couple years ago because it makes any bed SO much more comfortable).
BEST BED FRAMES FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS:
I had to start off strong with this gorgeous bed! The wood and boucle combo gives such a timeless style, and I can't believe it's only $400 for this.
You would need to have a bit of a bigger room with this bed since it only comes in a full or queen size, but this is one of my favorite bed frames I've seen so I just had to add it to the top of the list!
If you're dealing with a small room or sharing an apartment with roommates, then you're probably dealing with limited storage space. A great solution to this is to buy a sturdy wooden bed frame that has built-in drawers! This is a great way to get some additional organized space in your room to store clothes, shoes or extra bedding.
Here's another great bed that has SO much extra storage. Instead of just drawers, you can actually lift up the mattress part of the bed frame to reveal tons of storage underneath.
This will also prevent your belongings from getting dusty under your bed since they'll be stored in a secure, enclosed place!
The LED lights on this bed also make it 10x cooler!
If you have a classic, timeless style, you'll love this farmhouse black metal bed frame. It looks both elegant and simple and you can buy it in any bed size, from a twin to a king, so it will fit any room without taking up more floor space than you need.
A great way to maximize the floor space in your room is to get a loft bed instead! This elevates your bed enough that you can use the space under your bed for a desk (or even gaming setup), which is a good idea if you need a desk in your room!
This loft bed is great because while there is still space for a desk underneath, one of its additional features is having built-in storage which is a great way to maximize your organizational abilities in small spaces.
If you're less worried about storage and more worried about aesthetics, get this classic velvet bed! You can order it in almost any size from a twin to a king and it comes in SO many different colors. The "coffee" color is my personal favorite!!
If you're looking for the most sturdy frames, I recommend getting a solid wood bed frame like this. It has AMAZING reviews and comes several different bed sizes and colors, so you're sure to find something that matches your aesthetic!
This cloud bed is stunning! You can buy it in cream or pink and anywhere from a twin size to a queen. If you want to feel like your bed frame is part of your bedroom decor, a bed like this is a great way to do it!
This modern bed has such a classic and elegant look! It comes in a twin, full, or queen size, so get what fits your room best and just make sure you get the right mattress size as well!
This classic bed only comes in the bigger sizes but if you have space for it, I think it would make your room look amazing! You can choose from four different colors and they're all so pretty.
If you just want something simple that won't take up too much space in your room, this standard twin metal bed is a great option at an amazing price point. If you're on a budget this is all you really need for college life!

Platform beds are always a great option and I always love a good natural wood frame because it goes with anything! You can buy this one in a light wood or even a darker wood if you prefer that.
This shell bed is SO cute. It even has a drawer at the end for some extra storage which is a huge plus!
I could see this bed fitting in really well with a modern boho or natural vibe. It only comes in a full or king size so definitely not great for smaller spaces, but if you have a bigger room and want to invest in something you'll love long-term, this is a great option and still a super affordable price!
Okay I LOVE the modern + rattan combo, and this bed has such a classic look. You can order it in several different shades of wood or even get a black version if that's more your style.
This bed is on more of the luxury side in terms of price point but I couldn't resist adding it because it's SO elegant and classy. If you're looking for a bed that you'll be able to take with you to your next apartment after college, this queen size is a solid bed frame that I don't think you'll regret!
This bed frame gives the illusion that it's "floating" because the legs are further in rather than being on the sides. Such a cool look, plus when you add the LED lights to it you really can't get anything that will make your room more of a vibe!!
Futons are a great option if you want functionality without sacrificing style or aesthetic. If you add this mattress topper and mattress pad I think this would actually be a comfortable mattress while still having the bonus of being able to convert it!
