This post is all about college essentials Amazon.
Feel like the list of things you need for college is endless? Back to college shopping can be really overwhelming. I made this list of the MOST important 23 college essentials Amazon has to highlight some of the most popular college items that most students find super useful (and that I personally couldn’t survive without)!
The best part?
I’ve found these popular college items for you at great prices on Amazon so that you don’t have to do all the searching and comparing yourself or figure out where to buy your college essentials.
If you’re living in a dorm this year or if this is your first year in college, this post will be ESPECIALLY helpful for you. A bunch of the items on this list are absolute college dorm room essentials to make your life so much easier.

COLLEGE ESSENTIALS AMAZON:
I've had this travel mug for years and I still use it all the time. If you're a big coffee or tea drinker, you're going to be taking your coffee to go A LOT... especially if you want to save money by not buying coffee every day.
That's why a travel mug is one of the most important college essentials Amazon has!
If you're a fan of quick coffees, you need to put a mini keurig on your dorm essentials list. You can also stock up on Keurig pods!
These are so compact and take up next to no space in your dorm room. They’re perfect for late night study sessions or rushed early mornings. Plus, you won’t have to spend crazy money buying coffee every day (which you really shouldn’t do if you’re on a tight student budget).
10 foot phone chargers are great, especially because outlets in dorm rooms and apartments aren't always in the most convenient locations!
This is one of those unexpected things to bring to college that you might not really think you need, but having a Kindle has been INSANELY helpful for me and a few of my friends in college.
The reason for this?
If you’ll have to buy a lot of books (yes, lots of textbooks are available on Amazon!), they’re usually cheaper on Kindle. Plus, it’s really easy to highlight stuff, search for quotes or for a certain chapter, etc without having to flip through a million pages and go crazy because you can’t find what you’re looking for.
So, a Kindle is super helpful if you’ll have to buy a lot of books or do research essays. If you’re in a literature, English or writing degree, a Kindle is a MUST... speaking from experience!
Lighting in dorm rooms isn’t always the greatest, so if you want good lighting for your makeup or skin care, these mirrors are definitely an essential!
If you’re a light sleeper, a sound machine/white noise machine is definitely one of the most important college essentials Amazon has for you.
These will help you get a better sleep, especially when you’re in a dorm where people might be talking, walking down the hall or just making other background noise that could wake you up!
If you’re in a dorm room, you’ll have to check with your roommate on this one first (unless you have your own room). Sunrise alarm clocks have literally changed my life in college. They help you wake up faster because you can set them to turn on automatically when you want to wake up.
I personally use the Hatch Restore now but I used to use a cheaper version, similar to the one I have linked in the photo, and it worked great for years!
Duh, right?
Many students choose to split the cost of a mini fridge with their roommate. But a mini fridge is such a helpful item to have in college so that you can keep food in your room, milk for your coffee, or anything that needs to be refrigerated!
Trust me when I say that if you're studying for hours at a time, it can really hurt your neck to be looking down at your laptop for that long. So, add a laptop riser to your list of school supplies!
This will just give you the ability to raise your laptop so you can keep your neck straight. It's such a small change, but it makes a HUGE difference when you're constantly on your computer.
This is the bluetooth keyboard I've had for YEARS and I literally use it every day. It comes in so many different colors (I have the pink) and if you're getting a laptop riser, a bluetooth keyboard is a must so that you can type easily even when your laptop is sitting up higher.
Before I had this keyboard, I had bought a cheap "trendy" bluetooth keyboard in freshman year and it gave out on me so quickly. But I highly recommend this one instead!
This is the mattress topper I've had for years and still use! I even bought a new one in the exact same brand when I moved, and you can get it in the Twin XL size or whatever size your dorm room bed is.

I recommend getting a compact desk organizer like this, because you'd be surprised how quickly your small desk will get messy and cluttered if you don't have somewhere to store loose papers and other items.
If you want a more in-depth look at how to organize your small desk, here's my complete desk organization guide!
The BEST backpack in my experience is a Fjallraven.
I bought one before I started freshman year and it's still the only backpack I use! They're designed to reduce aches and pains to your back from carrying a heavy load, and they're super durable.
Plus, they come in so many great colors.
This hanging closet organizer is such a helpful item for a small closet with limited space!
You can use this hanging organizer to store socks, underwear, accessories, workout clothes, and even shoes.
A slim water bottle is essential in college because you don't want something huge that weighs down your bag or just takes up a lot of space when you're constantly on the go.
You have to add this Simple Modern water bottle to your dorm shopping list!
I keep this power strip under my desk and it's the most amazing thing. This is a great way to add more outlets to your room so you can charge your electronics, plug in a lamp, and even plug in your hair tools or whatever else you need at the same time.
Dorm rooms simply never have enough outlets!
You'll use command hooks to hang EVERYTHING in college, so you need to stock up on these before the school year starts!
This personal fan is great because you can attach it to so many different things. You can wrap it on your bed or even your desk when you're studying/getting ready. It's the perfect item to keep in a small space to help you cool down and sleep better at night.
This handheld vacuum is perfect to keep on hand because it won't take up lots of storage space! You can use this on dorm beds, in the nooks and crannies of your dorm closet, and all along your floor as well to keep it clean and dust-free.
This portable phone charger has such great reviews! You need one of these for long days on campus.
A bedside caddy is the perfect solution if you don't have space for a nightstand. This caddy will fit your phone, book, water bottle, journal, night light, and whatever else you like to keep right next to your bed.
Having an extra set of cotton sheets is essential for the weeks when you're just too busy to do loads of laundry.
If you're sharing a bathroom, a shower caddy MUST be on your list for dorm life! It'll help you keep all your shower stuff in one place and make it 10x easier to carry it back and forth.
