1. A really good travel mug
Having a really good travel mug is key in college. If you’re a coffee or tea drinker, you’re going to be taking your coffee to go A LOT.
This is one of the most important college essentials Amazon has tons of!
2. Mini Keurig
If you’re a coffee drinker, you need to put a mini keurig on your dorm essentials list.
These are so compact and take up next to no space in your dorm room. They’re perfect for late night study sessions or rushed early mornings. Plus, you won’t have to spend crazy money buying coffee every day (which you really shouldn’t do if you’re on a tight student budget).
3. Shower sandals
Shower sandals are one of the most important freshman year dorm room necessities.
Why?
You do NOT want to be stuck using a communal shower without shoes. It just feels gross. Personally, I’ve always worn sandals/slippers in ANY communal space including my room because it just feels so much cleaner.
4. Super long phone chargers
Just put this on your dorm room essentials list… you’ll thank me later.
5. Kindle Paperwhite
This is one of those unexpected things to bring to college that you might not really think you need, but having a Kindle has been INSANELY helpful for me and a few of my friends in college.
The reason for this?
If you’ll have to buy a lot of books, they’re a lot cheaper on Kindle. Plus, it’s really easy to highlight stuff, search for quotes or for a certain chapter, etc without having to flip through a million pages and go crazy because you can’t find what you’re looking for.
So, a Kindle Paperwhite is super helpful if you’ll have to buy a lot of books or do research essays. If you’re in a literature, English or writing program, a Kindle Paperwhite is a MUST.
6. A lighted mirror
Lighted mirrors are one of the most popular dorm room essentials amazon has.
Lighting in dorm rooms isn’t always the greatest, so if you want good lighting for your makeup or skin care, these mirrors are definitely an essential!
7. A white noise machine
If you’re a light sleeper, a white noise machine is definitely one of the most important college essentials Amazon has for you.
These will help you get a better sleep, especially when you’re in a dorm where people might be talking, walking down the hall or just making other background noise that could wake you up!
8. A sunrise alarm clock
If you’re in a dorm room, you’ll have to check with your roommate on this one first (unless you have your own room). Sunrise alarm clocks have literally changed my life in college. They help you wake up faster because you can set them to turn on automatically when you want to wake up.
9. A mini fridge
Duh, right?
Many students choose to split the cost of a mini fridge with their roommate. But a mini fridge is an absolute essential in college so that you can keep food in your room, milk for your coffee, or anything that needs to be refrigerated!
10. A laptop riser and bluetooth keyboard
These are two of my favourite study essentials that I think every college student needs… ESPECIALLY in this world where so much is online.
A laptop riser and bluetooth keyboard will just help you feel so much more comfortable when you’re studying. You need these on your college dorm checklist for freshman students!
