BEST FALL BUCKET LIST IDEAS:
1. Take your midterm studying or work to the coffee shop
Ever since I was in college, I’ve always LOVED going to a coffee shop on a crisp fall day to get some work done.
It used to be studying for midterms and it’s now turned into getting some laptop work done. But if you can find an aesthetic coffee shop with some good windows, this is one of the coziest fall activities to integrate into your regular routine.
If you want to make this a date, this definitely falls into the category of fall activities for couples, if you want it to!
2. Add some fall vibes to your living space
Keep your eyes peeled for cute and inexpensive decor options to (pumpkin) spice up your dorm room, apartment, or house!
Here are a couple of my favourite cheap options for fall decor that you can add to your space easily.
3. Accessorize
Can we all agree that one of the best things about fall is the fashion?
Yes? Ok great.
Subtly accessorizing according to the season is a great way to look classy and put-together without spending loads of money on a new wardrobe. If you add the right accessories, any outfit will instantly look so much better, in my opinion!!
I’m obsessed with these minimalist necklaces. They would go with pretty much any outfit and enhance the classy fall vibes!!
4. Drink apple cider
Because you really can’t go wrong with some warm apple cider! This is the perfect time of year to buy a jug of apple cider. Whether it’s from the grocery store or a local apple orchard, it’ll bring on the fall vibes either way.
5. Grab a new flannel
Flannels are absolutely a fall staple! They’re an easy, go-to fall look when you really don’t feel like figuring out a more elaborate outfit.
If you don’t have one (or just want a new one), here are some classic, low-budget options:
6. Bake a pie
You can easily grab a group of friends to do this with, or do it with your family when you head home for thanksgiving!
Here’s a pumpkin pie recipe, or you can make apple pie or pecan pie if you prefer!
7. Roast pumpkin seeds
Have you ever roasted pumpkin seeds?
If not, you’re seriously missing out.
Roasting pumpkin seeds is hands down one of my favourite fall activities. I could literally eat them all day. They’re such a classic fall snack!!
Here’s how to make roasted pumpkin seeds.
8. Get a soothing new candle
Sugar, cinnamon, cardamom, trees, apple, maple, vanilla, spice…. Ahhh, the smells of autumn.
Just writing that made me wanna light some new delicious fall candles.
You seriously can’t go wrong with an autumn-scented candle. Here are some suggestions:
9. Go apple picking
Let’s be honest… Not only is apple picking fun, it also paves the way for tons of cute instagram photos and content 😉
Apple picking is a great (low-cost) way to have a good time with your friends and get a few cute photos out of it! Just search for an apple orchard near you and plan a fun day with your friends.

10. Have a photo shoot
Which brings me to one of the cheapest fall activities for adults… have a photo shoot!
Get your significant other, or your girlfriends, hit a pumpkin patch or an apple orchard, wear a cute autumn outfit, and take tons of pics!!
If you want to do a photo shoot with your family, here are some family thanksgiving outfit ideas for a more cohesive look.
11. Go to a corn maze
Corn mazes are some of the best places in the fall! You can usually find them at a local town fall festival or even find local farms that offer corn mazes in the fall months. It’s such a fun outing for all ages and one of the best ways to spend your fall!
12. Hike with your friends
Wanna stay on budget, stay healthy, but also have fun?
This is the perfect activity to add to your fall bucket list. Going on a hike is great exercise and the best time is in the fall when all the leaves are changing to glorious colours.
13. Gather ‘round the campfire
When the weather starts to get a little chilly, that’s the perfect time for a campfire. You can grab a cozy blanket, roast marshmallows, and enjoy warming up the crisp air with your friends and family around a cozy fire.
14. Watch cozy fall movies or scary movies
Compile a list of your favourite fall movies and get watching!
This is an activity you can do with your significant other, your friends, your family, or alone. No shame in that.
15. Cozy up with a book
Cozying up with a good book is seriously one of the best feelings in the world.
Make yourself a cup of tea, a latte, or a hot chocolate, grab your favorite comforting blanket, and spend an afternoon cozied up reading a book with fall colors as your backdrop.
16. Create a fall playlist
I’m a big fan of creating playlists for every occasion. Create a fall playlist that you love so much, you’ll have it on repeat while you’re completing all the other activities from your fall bucket list ideas.
If you’re not a fan of creating playlists, here’s my dreamy autumn playlist I update every year!
17. De-clutter your closet
We can always get rid of a few things, if we’re being honest. Especially if the last time you did this was during your spring cleaning.
Fall always feels like the perfect time to do a bit of a reset, and decluttering is one of my favorite things because it feels so good when you’re done!
18. Do some self reflection
Cozying up with a journal is just as good as cozying up with a book.
Find some fall writing prompts or self-reflection prompts and start thinking about self-improvement so that you can be a better you!
19. Go to a local pumpkin patch
I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t feel like fall existed if I didn’t do this EVERY FALL. Whether you go with your whole family, a few friends, or just your significant other, going to a local pumpkin patch is a MUST-DO fall bucket list item.
20. Carve a pumpkin
It’s not the ultimate fall bucket list unless ‘carving a pumpkin’ is on it! This is one of those simple fall activities to add to a dinner party or get-together with friends.
21. Stop by the farmer’s market
The farmer’s market is also a great summer activity, but I LOVE the farmer’s market in fall when they start selling warm, cinnamon pastries and pumpkins from local farms. If you have a farmer’s market near you, you have to commit a weekend morning to stopping by!
It’s so comforting to go to a farmer’s market in the morning with the crisp fall air. Seriously makes me feel like I’m in Stars Hollow.
22. Get the Rory Gilmore sweater
If you know what I’m talking about, then you know you need the Rory Gilmore sweater! Here’s a super affordable knit sweater just like Rory Gilmore’s on Amazon to add to your fall wardrobe.
23. Visit a haunted house
If you like the idea of a spooky fall, plan to visit a haunted house! This is an easy way to add a bit of a spookier vibe to your autumn, and it can be a super fun activity with friends.
24. Make caramel apples
Caramel apples are SO good! I’ve never actually made them at home before, but I’d love to add this to my own fall bucket list! I found this caramel apple recipe that looks heavenly.
25. Try a new fall recipe
One of my faovrite fall recipes I make every year is this creamy tortellini soup. But you can also browse Pinterest for the best fall recipes and find one that looks good to you!
26. Bake pumpkin bread
Pumpkin bread is SO GOOD! Plus, instead of spending money on a pumpkin loaf at a coffee shop or something, you can make your own which is even more fun.
27. Try a new warm drink each day
This would be so fun… Make a bingo card of warm fall drinks you want to have this autumn and try to check them off throughout the season!
28. Go on a nature walk to see the fall foliage
You can never go wrong with a nature walk in the fall! Especially once the leaves start changing, the sight and smell of fall nature is seriously unmatched.
29. Host a Halloween party
If you’re a big fan of Halloween, host a costume party or dinner party! This is one of those fall bucket list ideas that seriously never gets old, and you can even make it a tradition with your friends.
30. Make an autumn TBR list
Calling all book lovers 🙂 you need to make an autumn reading list! This is one of my favorite things to do every fall because it’s the best time to get back into cozy mysteries, dark fantasies, and even wholesome books.
31. Go on a scenic drive
Once the leaves really start getting colorful, grab a coffee and go on a scenic drive! This would make such a cute date idea or even a fun way to spend time with your friends.
32. Rewatch Gilmore Girls
Do I even need to say this one?! I feel like this is one of the first autumn bucket list ideas every woman has. Rewatching Gilmore Girls is one of the best ideas because you can easily turn it on in the background while you’re doing other things at home.
33. Make this year’s Halloween costume
DIY Halloween costumes are not only more affordable, they can also be lots of fun to make!
This is a great list!
thanks, Mary! I’m so excited to do some of these fall activities myself ?
