But finding the best backpack for college is not only about finding a good quality backpack, but also one that reflects your style.
So, taking all those factors into consideration, I’ve put together a list of the best backpacks for college students!

I got one before the start of my freshman year and I honestly can say that it is the BEST backpack I’ve ever had.

These backpacks come in so many different colors and sizes; so whether you’re a neutrals-lover or love a pop of color, a minimalist or the type of person who carries around all your belongings – there will definitely be a style for you.

North Face is a really high quality brand, and their backpacks will attest to that. If you’re looking for the best North Face backpack for college, this one is a great option because it’s got space for your laptop and it’s super comfy. A lot of college students use these and are able to fit all their college essentials.
What else?
It’s water resistant.
So, if you’re looking for the best waterproof backpacks for college, this is one of your best bets (according to North Face’s website, all their backpacks are water resistant – they make fully waterproof ones too, but you probably won’t need something quite that heavy-duty for just a college backpack. If you’re worried about rain, one of North Face’s water resistant backpacks like this should be just fine).

This backpack is waterproof and insanely cute!! I saw this and could not resist adding it to the list of best college backpacks.
Honestly, don’t think I need to say much else about it… just look at it! Who wouldn’t want to haul this around campus?!
4. Jansport
I’ve had a couple Jansports over the course of my life (who hasn’t?) and they’re definitely a good option when it comes to school backpacks.
They’re a little more affordable, but still durable and should last you at least a couple years.
5. Adidas Originals
It’s a well-known brand for a reason.
You can pretty much guarantee that an Adidas backpack is going to be good quality. And I’ve seen tons of guys especially sporting Adidas backpacks, making this one of the best college backpacks for guys (based on the popularity).

Who doesn’t love Nike?!
You can pretty much guarantee Nike backpacks like this will be good quality – so as long as it fits your laptop and your style, really what else can you ask for?
7. Herschel
Herschel bags were made for students, so it’s pretty likely that this backpack will be right for you as a college student.
I’ve also had a Herschel bag in high school, and loved it. I’ve never used one in college, but I’ve seen tons of college students with these backpacks, so Herschel backpacks are definitely known for being one of the best backpacks for college students with laptops, since this is pretty much what they were made for!

This City Adventurer backpack is one of the best options I could find for a college student who wants to keep it practical and stylish.
10. Amazon Basics Campus Backpack
An AmazonBasics backpack is as standard as it gets.
If you’re just looking for something neutral-colored that does the job, this is a fantastic option. The Amazon Basics Campus backpack was made with college students in mind so there’s a padded pocket for your laptop, and really all the space you need for other stuff you’ll need to haul around campus.
I can’t personally speak of any experience with these backpacks, but I looked through a lot of the reviews, and most of them say that the backpack is comfortable, big, and functional.
11. Beis
I really want one of these backpacks for the sole reason that Shay Mitchell founded Beis and is in allll their ads… (I’m well aware that I’m just being a sucker for a genius marketing strategy and the celeb behind it but it’s fine…)
All that aside… these are seriously such pretty backpacks. I’ve also heard/read some reviews on these backpacks, and they’re all pretty positive and say that the backpack does hold up (and obviously looks amazing).
If you’re more of a tote person, they also sell big tote bags that would probably carry all the stuff you need for college. (Tote bags just aren’t quite as comfortable in my personal opinion, but I use them a lot for work anyways because let’s face it… if you wanna look good, you’ll do what you have to do!!)
